German public-service television shouldn’t be left off the hook on defamation of Jews!

In July 2016, German public-service television broadcaster ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen) claimed in a “heute +” documentary that Jewish children in Israel are being taught to hate and kill Palestinians. After I wrote about the incident in my blog the story was reported in the German newspaper “Bild”. The documentary is probably one of the worst defamations of Jews in modern German history.

A brief summary:

In July 2016, a documentary in “heute +” spread a direct lie in its title:

„Educated to hate? How Israeli and Palestinian children are taught to mutually despise each other – and to kill.“

The documentary shows not even a single example whereby Israeli children are taught to hate and kill anyone. That’s not surprising, since there is no state-sponsored hate propaganda in Israel. On the contrary, the report did show Arab school children with knives in their hands, learning to hate Jews and how to kill them. In regard to Israel, the only “evidence” the documentary could produce was a textbook in which a „racist“ drawing depicted a Bedouin riding a camel as many do today.

The ZDF documentary left out completely the fact that Arab children learn and play with Israeli children in Israeli schools. Twenty percent of Israelis are ethnic Arab, of which more than three fourths are satisfied with their lives in Israel because it is the only democracy far and wide. Gaza, however, is „Jew-free“ and the Fatah is striving for an Arab state without Jews. Instead of interaction between Arabs and Jews – as in Israel – there is only hate.

After I had pointed out the inaccuracy in the documentary title: „Educated to hate? How Israeli and Palestinian children are taught to mutually despise each other – and to kill”, the title was modified through the deletion of the words “- and to kill”.

With that, the public television station, ZDF, just made things worse! Instead of pointing out that children in Israel are not taught in schools as in Gaza to hate and murder, and to admit spreading terrible lies about Jews, the documentary title was modified whereby the truth about what children are taught in schools in Gaza was simply deleted. Despite the numerous images and videos in the documentary showing Arab children with knives and guns in their hands, declaring their indoctrinated readiness to stab, shoot and kill Jews.

The ZDF deletes a few words, thus denying real Arab hatred of Jews. Equivalency is suggested through an image of an Israeli book showing a Bedouin on a camel and Arab children, aiming guns and brandishing knives. The television station insists on:

„How Israeli and Palestinian children are incited to despise each other.“

The ZDF shouldn’t get away with this, especially after they’ve worsened the situation. There’s only one title that truly reflects the content of the documentary:

„How Palestinian children are incited to despise and kill Jews.“

I call upon readers of my blog to protest this defamation of Jews, to share the story in the internet community and in public. The ZDF, a publicly funded broadcaster, must not be allowed to vilify Jews. The ZDF must apologize and put the story straight!
