Imagine you’re under a dome and there are people shooting at that dome with the aim of killing you.
Imagine those people who are shooting at you, are repeatedly screaming they want you dead and even write up a charter in which a main objective is to kill you, your family and all your relatives. If you had a weapon, would you protect yourself?
Of course you’d defend yourself. After all, the only alternative would be to let yourself be murdered. You’d shoot back until an attack on your life and limb was stopped.
The people of Israel live under such a dome and they are indeed under massive attack. But the people of Israel are armed, thank God! The people of Israel persevere. The people of Israel can defend themselves and they do.
Among other aggressors, they defend themselves against Hamas, which declares in Article 7 of its founding charter that one main objective is the destruction of all Jews worldwide. Look for yourself. The clarity of the words demanding a Final Solution is frightening.
Imagine if you were successful and there was peace. Do you think it’s fair to be criticized for defending yourself? Imagine if the people trying to shoot you dead were hiding behind children. Imagine the murderers, in complete disregard for civilians, had them march towards your dome with the intention of tearing it down. Do you think it would be fair to be called a child murderer afterwards, if children did indeed die?
How would you feel if your survival was described as infanticide, if you were forced to shoot at children to survive? You would not be responsible for the death of children. Although you have a right to defend yourself, the deaths of innocent children would be devastating for normal feeling people. It would be very difficult to forgive those enemies for not cherishing their children.
Imagine, behind those who fired at your dome were people with cameras who filmed everything. They filmed how some of your defensive shots hit children, but also how you desperately tried not to hit children. In the news, however, it’s not your desperation or your attempts to avoid civilian casualties that are shown, but rather only the suffering of children. Imagine if civilian casualties were blamed without context entirely on you. And journalists would even say:
„We filmed everything. You were safe under your dome! Nobody died under the dome. But you shot a lot of people! Children and civilians. That was disproportionate use of force!“
How would you feel if you were criticized from all over the world and even self-proclaimed peace activists called you a warmonger and the worst threat to world peace? What would you say if the United Nations were to criticize you more often than all the other people in the world put together? That is exactly what is happening to Israel! Israel has been criticized by the so-called United Nations Human Rights Council more often than all the other countries in the world combined, including such shining examples as Syria, Saudi Arabia, North Korea and Iran. Can you imagine living in a world like this? Israel lives in a world like this. And while Hamas misuses civilians to protect its weapons, the State of Israel uses its weapons to protect its civilians.
I know exactly what you would say if you had to spend even a few days in Israel’s shoes. In a world where children are sent to their deaths to be killed by your weapons for propaganda purposes, to twist the facts and make your defense look like aggression. With such a perfidious plan born of pure hatred, designed to weaken and demoralize, while the next attack on you and your family is being planned, you’d make it clear to all the people who make, spread and use those propaganda images: „You are accomplices!“
News media that show those propaganda images of dead children are complicit, because it’s Hamas‘ plan to „produce“ these dead children in order to attack Israel. The verb „produce“ is exactly the right word when summing up the inhumanity of Hamas.
All those politicians who criticize Israel for defending itself, talk about disproportion defense measures and accuse Israel of purposely killing civilians, are culpable themselves for those unnecessary deaths. Hamas deliberately hides its weapons among unarmed civilians in hopes these innocent die, because they know such propaganda is well received by European critics of Israel. If Europeans wouldn’t be so thrilled about such images of dead children and civilians, killed by weapons held by Jews, Hamas would cease to „produce“ more dead civilians and children.
The principle of supply and demand prevails. There is a market in Europe for images of dead Palestinian children and Hamas meets that demand. Hamas thus has customers, not to say willing executioners. They are the ones who purposely „produce“ and disseminate images of dead children and civilians in order to weaken Israel.
Since this is increasingly being done by European Union leaders and many journalists working for European publishers, we, in reference to freedom and peace in the Middle East, should now be shouting:
FREE GAZA FROM HAMAS!
FREE GAZA FROM EUROPE!
